Barbara Kennard

Barbara has been an active member of the Episcopal Church all her life. Recently, she was received into the Fellowship of Saint John, a lay community of women and men who strive to live the Rule of Life of the Society of St. John the Evangelist. At Redeemer, she enjoys serving as LEM, lector, server, an Altar Guild member and attending the Women’s and the Sunday morning Bible Studies. Prior to retirement in 2015, Barbara taught English and performing arts to middle and high school students for thirty-years in a variety of milieu. A published poet and essayist, Barbara is currently at work on a memoir about teaching. When she’s not writing, she volunteers her time reading Shakespeare to a gentleman with MS. Favorite hobbies include traveling, cooking, and exploring the many walks around her Jamaica Plain neighborhood. Barbara is delighted to be nominated for the Deanery Rep position and looks forward to representing Church of the Redeemer in this role.
