FUEL:

FUEL - For Students

FUEL is a program to provide weekend food for students who rely on free or reduced-price breakfasts and lunches at school during the week. A collaboration between the Redeemer and the Centre Street Food Pantry, FUEL is working with six Newton elementary and middle schools and St. Stephen's B-SAFE afterschool prgoram. As the school year begins, we will provide backpacks of nutritious, non-perishable food each week as well as information about how to access the Centre Street Food Pantry (to the Newton Public School students and their families) and other community resources.

TO GET INVOLVED...

This program needs

  • People to shop for large quantities of food (and be reimbursed);
  • People to sort and organize the food;
  • People to pack the backpack and duffel bags;
  • People to deliver the bags each week.
  • Organizers who like to keep track of all of this!

FUEL also needs cash donations in any amount to cover the cost of food for this expanding program. Thank you to all of you who made our program so successful that we are able to expand the program to the school year. So many people are grateful for the food FUEL has provided!
