This is the last regular weekly email of the summer. In July and August, some test emails will be sent to work the bugs out of new email software before the fall.

Have a wonderful summer!

Last chance!

We need more volunteers to sign up this week,

or we cannot provide lunch for the B-SAFE training

Can you volunteer?

The Church of the Redeemer hopes be responsible for 2 days of lunches for the training week for the St. Stephen’s B-SAFE Summer Camp (for young people who live in lower income neighborhoods of Boston and Chelsea). We need Redeemer volunteers to help serve the lunches. Our capability to provide and serve lunches for two days will depend on whether or not there are Redeemer Parishioners who are available to volunteer.  The details are as follows:

Dates for which we need volunteers: Tuesday, June 29th and Wednesday, June 30th

Volunteering choices:

1) Help serve lunch at Epiphany School on either June 29th or June 30th from 10:45am – 1:30pm.

2) Prepare a lasagna at home and bring it into the Redeemer (to be served at Epiphany for the B-SAFE training week).

We have assembled a group of 3-4 Redeemer parishioners who will be coordinating and organizing this effort. Now we need volunteers to offer to help serve the lunches for a few hours on either Tuesday, June 29th or Wednesday, June 30th.  This is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for families as older children and teens are most welcome to help in this endeavor.

If you are interested in helping, please contact Laura Patton (laurated@rcn.com) or 617-232-5175.

Brief Summary of B-SAFE:

B-SAFE is the Bishop’s Summer Academic and Fun and Enrichment (B-SAFE) program.  Now in its 11th year, the B-SAFE program will again offer full day programming (summer enrichment camp) at 6 sites in Chelsea and Boston for six weeks this summer.   The program will serve more than 440 elementary and middle school children and employ 100 teens.  Most of these children and teens live in Boston's lowest income neighborhoods, many with high rates of street violence.  Perhaps the most important aspect of B-SAFE is simply providing a physically and emotionally safe place to be during the long summer days.
