Hunger in Massachusetts
With food prices rising sharply recently, there has been an estimated 20 - 40% increase in people in Massachusetts seeking assistance from food pantries. Many of these are working families who can’t make ends meet, or have to choose between buying food or gasoline. To help address this, there will be collection bins all summer for non-perishable food items outside the church office and on Amy and Rick Weed’s front porch (20 Malia Terrace, Chestnut Hill). We will drop the items at the Newton and Brookline Food Pantries every other week. Please pick up an extra item or two when you are at the grocery store to help address this growing problem. |

Diocesan Summer Camp at the
Barbara C. Harris The Camp at the Barbara C. Harris Camp & Conference Center is located in Greenfield, New Hampshire (near Peterborough) and this summer will again offer six, 1-week overnight camp sessions for kids entering 3rd grade through senior year of high school (from the week beginning 7/10 through the week beginning 8/3.) There are also a number of specialty camps throughout the summer including a family camp weekend, CIT programs, Soccer Camp, Choir Camp, Horseback Camp, and a Monadnock Adventure Camp. The Camp’s traditional one-week camp programs are based on a traditional Christian “church camp” model. Typical camp activities (swimming, boating, campfires, crafts, etc.) are interspersed with light, youth-oriented faith formation activities and worship. The Camp is a great way for kids to have an overnight camp experience, meet other kids from the diocese, and learn about how their faith can be both personal and fun. The college-age staff is an absolutely phenomenal group of fun, energetic young adults who serve as real Christian role models and mentors for children and teens. If you want to learn more about the The Camp: 1) Chat with families who have attended or sent their kids to The Camp, including the Britt-Webbs, the Mills, the Mathews, and the Rowleys. At least five kids from Redeemer are attending camp this summer. 2) Pick up a brochure on the table in the parish hall hallway (near the office) 3) Visit the camp online at www.bchcenter.org There is still availability for this summer, depending on the week and your child’s grade level. Sign up soon to get your best choice! P.S. If affordability is a concern, please know that The Camp has a generous endowment for financial aid. |

Diocese to celebrate fifth anniversary of Barbara C. Harris Camp on June 22
A
family kayaks on crystal-clear Lake Otter at the Barbara C. Harris Camp &
Conference Center. This June is the fifth anniversary of the Barbara C. Harris Camp & Conference Center, and coincidentally the birth month of Bishop Harris herself, so it's time to celebrate! All are invited to the camp in Greenfield, NH, on Sunday, June 22 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for a day of fun: camp activities, food and fellowship in a relaxed and beautiful setting. Activities and a cookout will run from 11 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., followed by a worship service at 3 p.m. Attendees may arrive at any time and are requested to RSVP to allow planners to get a head count; buses will be provided for those who need transportation. For more details and to RSVP, please visit: www.diomass.org/bcharris-camp-anniversary. |
