Message from the Church School

Dear Redeemer Families,

Happy New Year!

The Church School needs volunteers to teach.  We hope you can help us.

We have 3 teaching rotations planned between now and the end of the year:

(1)   Feb. 3, 10 and March 2 we will be studying  John 11:1-44….Raising Lazarus.

(2)   March 9, April 6 and April 13 we will be studying the Prodigal Son … Luke 15

(3)     April 20, May 4 and May 11 we will be studying Saul’s conversion…. Acts 9: 1-31

Each rotation requires 3 people to sign up for the entire 3-week rotation.  These teachers will be responsible for the same story all three weeks and each teacher will have the same story-related project to do all three weeks. They will stay in the same classroom all three weeks while the classes “rotate” through.  For example, they will teach the 2nd/3rd graders one-week, the 4th/5th graders the second week, and the 6th/7th graders the last week.  Slight adjustments might need to be made for different age groups, but the Bible story and the teaching-project will be the same all 3 weeks.

Please do not worry if you are not free any of these weeks or if you are otherwise already involved at the Redeemer in the church school or elsewhere.   We understand that teaching is not for everyone.  But we do need some help and we will be there to assist you all the way.  A week before each rotation starts, we will organize a Bible study to closely examine the story we are about to teach our children.  This has proven to be a great way to prep for the teaching assignments.

Volunteers of any age and both genders are welcome.

Please, pick up the phone and call us if you have any questions or if you just need a little encouragement.  Either Sarah or I or anybody on our church school committee would be happy to talk with you.

Bless you all and thanks for considering this request!

Faithfully yours,

Judy (617) 734-8841

Sarah (617) 383-5584.

Bible Study with the Rector

 The Radiant World:

Midweek Bible Studies for Ordinary Life

The Letter to the Hebrews is one of the most beautiful works of Western literature and among the most compelling books of the Bible.  It has influenced all the Church’s greatest thinkers, and gives an astonishingly rich portrayal of the work of Jesus Christ and its relation to human affairs.  Over coffee at the Rectory, we will explore the depth and power of this work, at the rate of about a chapter a week, showing its relation to other major texts of Scripture and classic sermons from Christian history, and mining it as a source of creative strength and encouragement for our own ordinary lives.  Come, spend some time with a few fellow pilgrims, and fill the rest of your week with the grace of the Lord in the power of the Spirit.

Men’s Bible Study, Wednesdays, 7:00 am

Women’s Bible Study, Thursdays, 9: 00 am

Both meet at the Rectory, 381 Hammond Street.
