Caring
for the Generations:
Strengthening the family
through
the middle and end of life.
******Please
note change of dates******
How can we
best care for the senior members of our families? How can
we support those in mid-life who are often the primary
caregivers for those nearing the end of life? How can we
minimize the burden of decision-making for our adult
children? And how can we leave behind us a lasting legacy
for our church and our community?
These and
other questions will be explored in a two-part series in
January and February.
Sunday,
January 28 following the 10:30 am service:
We’ll
explore the graces and challenges of growing old, the
importance of dignity, activity, and independence, as well
as the difficulties in helping people negotiate the hurdles
near the end of life. And we will look at ways of helping
caregivers who are in midlife, often still raising children
of their own.
Sunday,
February 11 following the 10:30 am service:
Setting the
house in order. We will talk about how to talk about death
and dying within our families, and consider instruments such
as advance directives and living wills, and other ways of
easing the burden for those closest to us. We will also
cover advance funeral arrangements, including details about
the burial rites of the Church. |
