Laine Walters Young has worked at the Redeemer since November 2008. She enjoys the varied tasks of her position, particularly designing and managing the content of the website and the newsletter.  As an aspiring family ethicist, she loves having deep theological discussions with the clergy.

Laine has a master's degree in theological studies from Harvard Divinity School and a bachelor’s degree in communication from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washingon. She is committed to helping the church do a better job of explaining itself, as evidenced by her ongoing improvements to the Redeemer communications system.

Laine is also actively involved at St. James’s Episcopal Church in Cambridge. In the past, she has sung in the choir (where she met her husband), coordinated the young professionals small group, taught high school Sunday School, served as Lay Eucharistic Minister and Lector, and served on the latest St. James's Capital Campaign.  Her husband Michael is chair of the St. James's Finance Committee and has spent terms as  Junior and Senior Warden, as well as Treasurer.

Laine is originally from Portland, Oregon, although most people mistake her for being from the Midwest due to her husband Michael's roots.  In her free time, she likes to cook with her husband, quilt, read, do yoga and Zumba, and watch "Madmen," "Big Love," and "Dr. Who."
