Youth Assistants Youth Assistants are Confirmed students in the 9th-12th grade who help in Church School on Sunday mornings from 10 am -12:00 noon. They are Confirmed mentors for our Church School children and assist the teachers in every classroom. Youth Assistants must be responsible about arriving on time every Sunday. If they are going to be absent, they should notify the Director of Church School in advance.
In addition to being teaching assistants and role models for the children of our parish, Youth Assistants also have the opportunity to gather periodically for fellowship, planning, and formation. After Church School, on scheduled weekends, the Youth Assistants are invited to have lunch together, and talk about issues that have been raised by children in Church School, questions from their own faith lives, and to help plan events. The two most important events that the Youth Assistants have the opportunity to help plan are the mission trips (and all the preparation required for them – such as fundraising) and Youth Sunday. This year, the Youth Assistants will also be taking a trip to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. In 2010, Youth Sunday will be May 16th. The liturgy that day will be designed and carried out by teens and children of the parish. Youth Assistants for the 2009-10 Church School year are:
