Church School

Mission Statement

The Redeemer Church School seeks to provide children with a foundation in the Christian faith in a nurturing environment of acceptance, love and open inquiry.  Through a program of education, worship, outreach and fellowship, children are encouraged to develop their Christian beliefs and values and to grow in their relationship with God and with each other.

The specific elements of the Church School program at the Redeemer, adjusted appropriately for each age level, include:

  • Study of the Bible stories of the Old and New Testament
  • Familiarization with the basic components of worship in the Episcopal Church through weekly worship in children’s chapel program
  • Lending of guidance and assistance to teachers, in hopes of broadening their Christian beliefs and in an effort to help them become more effective Christian leaders

Sunday Morning Schedule for Church School 

All children age three through seventh grade attend class from 10:15 – 11:45 AM.  Please continue to look at the church calendar for any changes and updates.
 

Curriculum Content

Infant/Toddlers

Childcare is provided.

 

Grades: K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd

      These grades are following a Godly Play curriculum.  This is a creative method of presenting scripture stories to children.  Godly Play supports, nourishes, challenges and guides their spiritual journey.  We enter into sacred stories, parables, silence, questions and art creations to discover God, ourselves, one another and the world around us.

 

Three/four year olds 

    This class reads Bible stories and works on age-appropriate projects together.

 

Grades: 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th

        All classes follow a Biblically-based curriculum developed by members of the Church School committee and the Rev. Marc Eames.  The children study scripture, share in discussion, keep a memory work notebook and partake in various community service projects throughout the year.

 

                                                                               Grade Eight

                                                                              Curriculum is centered around Confirmation class.
