Christmas Market

Church of the Redeemer

Interested in Becoming a Vendor?

Please read the information about the Market below.  If you are interested in participating in our Market, please send photos of your products and a price list.  A website makes an excellent resource, though you may choose to supplement it, if yours is not up-to-date.  Send materials you think will portray your business – both what you would sell and an indication of pricing.  Please be sure to include your mailing address, email and phone numbers.  All potential vendors are reviewed periodically by our committee, and everyone who submits materials will be notified if they are invited to participate or not.  You may also fill out the 2008 Consignor Contract and send that in with your other materials but please note that the contract does not become effective until signed by the Christmas Market Consignors Committee and returned to you.

MARKET INFORMATION:

CUSTOMERS:

The Market is a well-established tradition in our area; this year will be the 58th year.  The Market draws over 1000 visitors each year, and has many loyal fans from Newton, Brookline, Wellesley, and a few places farther afield.  Most people come to buy presents for the holidays.  We strive for a festive and personal atmosphere during our two-day market.  Through the extensive network of schools, private clubs, and charitable organizations in the area, people always seem to run into someone they know.

VENDORS:

Each year we have 35-45 vendors in two adjacent spaces; in 2007, vendors included, Sara Campbell LTD., The Andover Shop, and Galatea Fine Jewelry.  We strive for a well-represented and diverse show with little to no overlap in merchandise. Vendors are often growing businesses that sell a wide range of items – traditional menswear, handmade handbags, children’s items, jewelry, specialty gourmet foods, housewares, and stationary.  Because our Market has a long history, many vendors hear about us from one another and seek us out.

TIMING:

For 2008, The Christmas Market schedule for vendors is as follows:

Friday, December 5th: 10:00AM-5:00PM  Open to the Public.

                                                             5:00PM-6:00PM  Closed for Consignor dinner

                                                             6:00PM-7:00PM  Cocktails and Vendor shopping
                                                             for Church members.

(followed by fundraising dinner and auction for church members)

Saturday, December 6th:    10:00AM-4:00PM  Open to the Public

COST:

Vendors pay a space and/ or table fee (from $100 to $175, depending on space), when they agree to come by signing a contract.  Vendors agree to pay the church 15% of gross sales at the show, at the end of the event.

THE ORGANIZATION:

The Christmas Market and associated dinner and auction are the main annual fundraisers for the Outreach Group of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer.  The Outreach committee supports secular after-school program at St. Stephen’s church in the South End, organizes food and clothing drive for homeless shelters, and coordinates service projects in underserved neighborhoods.  Outreach makes grants to non-profit organizations such as: Bridge over Troubled Waters, Horizons, Initiative, Epiphany Middle School, Newton Food Pantry, Brookline Food Pantry, On the Rise, and Ecclesia Ministries.
