After serving as Priest -in charge of the refounding of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Dorchester, Massachusetts Cathy devoted a Sabbatical to writing a book on prayer and daily life (You Are Already Praying) that will be published in March 2013. Her leadership is distinguished by her commitment to strengthening the laity for service in the world and in the parish. For twelve years she served as Rector of St. Anne’s in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, Lincoln, Mass.

The Rev. Margery Kennelly

    The Rev. Margery Kennelly grew up in the rolling hills outside of Baltimore, Maryland. Her mother is an artist and gardener capable of making all flowering plants produce more than their fair share of blossoms. Her father practiced law and taught Margery how to waltz and shoot clay pigeons. Her older brother earned the title ‘Captain fun’ in his teens due to his ability to mobilize groups into action packed outdoor adventures. Margery attended Harvard College (B.A. magna cum laude, 1987) where she met her future husband, Richard Kennelly.

Lovey Cercone

Coffee Hour/Childcare Assistant for the Church Service League

Lovey has worked on behalf of the Church Service League for nine years overseeing the Redeemer coffee hours and providing childcare during services and special events. 

She moved to the Boston area in 1980 and worked for Boston College Dining Services for 17 years until she retired in 1998. After her retirement, she began helping with functions, catering, and housekeeping at The Longwood Cricket Club, where she continues to work. 

Suzy Westcott

Suzy Westcott has been a member of the Church of the Redeemer since 1974.  She has served as Chair of the Sunday School Committee, Treasurer of both the Church Service League and Christmas Market, Directress of the Altar Guild, and a member of the Vestry, where she also held the offices of Assistant Treasurer, Junior Warden and Senior Warden.  She has also held the position of Financial Administrator and currently serves as the Verger of the Parish.  

Elton Matos

Facilities Manager

Elton Matos joined the staff of the Church of the Redeemer as Sexton in December of 1999. He became the parish’s Facilities Manager in 2001. He oversees all aspects of the church’s buildings and grounds, including the management of its capital improvement projects and space rentals.

Sharon Gillespie

Financial Administrator

Sharon has worked at the Redeemer for four years in the position of Financial Administrator.  She works closely with all members of the staff to ensure the the smooth and effective functioning of the Business/Finance office of the parish.

Sharon has an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and a Masters in
Business Administration (MBA).  She is a Director and Treasurer of the Board
of the Library Foundation of Needham and also volunteers as a Financial
Coach at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Sarah Allen

Sunday School Director

1986

Sarah Allen joined the Redeemer in 1986 with her husband Tim.  She began teaching in the Sunday School in 1988.  Tim and Sarah’s three daughters have all been baptized and confirmed at the Redeemer and have enjoyed the youth groups, mission trips and being Youth Assistants in the Sunday School.

In 2000, Sarah became co-director of the Sunday School after
serving as chair of the Sunday School committee and being on the Vestry.
In 2008 she became the sole Director.

Laine Walters Young

Laine Walters Young has worked at the Redeemer since November 2008. She enjoys the varied tasks of her position, particularly designing and managing the content of the website and the newsletter.  As an aspiring family ethicist, she loves having deep theological discussions with the clergy. 

Mary Reynders

The Redeemer Children's Choir is under the direction of Mary Reynders.  She holds Music degrees in Cello Performance from Morehead State University and the University of Texas, where she studied with Phyllis Young.  Mary also received her Teaching Certification from UT-Austin.  While working on her doctorate, Mary was involved as a teacher in the University of Texas String Project and later became the youngest person to be appointed Assistant Director of that nationally renowned program.  Both as a performer and teacher, Mary is equally dedicated to achieving high standa

Michael S. Murray

Organist and Choirmaster

Originally from Queensland, Australia, Michael S. Murray directs the adult portion of the music at the parish.   During his tenure, the music at the Redeemer has blossomed into one of the most respected sacred music programs in New England. 

He has appeared on numerous recordings.  Most recently, in 2012, “Vivat Regina!  The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II”, a commemorative recording of organ, choral and instrumental music, which launched to critical acclaim.
